Counseling
Patient-Centered Care
At SHC, we believe in a holistic, patient-centered approach that combines medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) with behavioral therapy to support your recovery. This integrated care model helps you manage cravings, develop new coping skills, and address underlying triggers, giving you the best chance for long-term success.

Individual Counseling
Individual sessions in an opioid treatment program typically focus on several key areas to support recovery. Individual sessions will focus on:
- Personalized Care Plans: Tailoring the treatment to address the specific needs and goals of the individual.
- Coping Strategies: Developing techniques to manage cravings, triggers, and stress.
- Behavioral Therapy: Using methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to change negative thought patterns and behaviors or motivational interviewing.
- Emotional Support: Providing a safe space to discuss feelings, challenges, and progress.
- Medication Management: Ensuring proper use and monitoring of medications like methadone.
- Goal Setting: Establishing short-term and long-term recovery goals.
Our goal is to empower you with the tools and support necessary to navigate your recovery and lead a fulfilling life.
Group Counseling
Group counseling provides a safe, supportive space to connect with others in recovery. Led by counselors, these sessions offer valuable peer insights and foster a sense of community.
-
In group counseling, you'll focus on:
- Peer Support: Building connections with others who understand your journey.
- Skills Development: Learning coping strategies, stress management, and relapse prevention in a collaborative environment.
- Diverse Perspectives: Gaining new insights from individuals with different experiences.
- Feedback and Accountability: Offering and receiving support to stay committed to your recovery goals.
Group counseling complements individual therapy by strengthening your support network and providing additional tools for long-term recovery.
